painting with light

Jill Senyk

the reason i choose this photo is because i really like the lighting. I used rule of thirds to put the picture in the perfect position.

I learned a lot from this project, including how to use my camera and how to be more creative when taking my photos. Now that i can actually use my camera without it being automatic i have a lot more confidence in my photos and i am really happy with the outcome of this project.

favorite type of photography

My two favourite types of photography are fashion photography and sailing photography. I have been a big sailer since i was young and just achieved my bronze 5 at Port Credit yacht club, i have also lived on a boat in the Caribbean for a year and raced on sailboats a lot. It would make sense that i would be interested in photos of things i am interested in. In my top 10 favourite photographers i included 2 sailing specific photographers, Onne Van Der  Val and Nancy Green. It is my dream to be photographed by one or both of them. I included many fashion  photographers in my favorites but theres one that sticks out from all of them. Hes an author  spokesperson, filmmaker, fashion photographer and former model. He is best known for his participation as a judge and photographer on the reality show America's Next Top Model. His name is Nigel Barker.

Anyway thats all i have to talk about for today, xx

Weegee
Weegee (Usher Fellig) was born on June 12th 1899 in Ukraine, he died on December 26th 1968 at age 69. Weegee earned this name after he would show up to shoot crime scenes only minutes after the crimes took place, he did this by keeping a police radio in his room and responding to calls as soon as the police knew, he was said to have given himself this name. Weegee worked in New York City in the Lower East Side as a press photographer during the 1930’s and 40’s. Weegee published photography books and aswell he worked in cinema and creating short films.
Weegee began his career shooting young children in the lower east side of new york and selling the pictures to their parents. He is now known for his  Photographs of the New York City demimonde: gangsters and their victims, Bowery bums, nightclub denizens, transvestites in paddy wagons, tenement dwellers, street sleepers, car wrecks, and crowds at Coney Island.
My picture that i took portrays Weegees style because it is at night, looks like a crime scene and takes place at an abandon house. Aswell it has a mysterious side too it and makes you wonder what happened to that poor boy.
I very much liked researching Weegee and his photographs, i choose him because i am very fond of the show csi and criminal minds, i find crime very interesting.
